my 13months old sleeps twice during the day 1-2hours each time but at night she refuses to sleep and cries when you try to make her sleep and stays awake till past 10pm,what could be the issue.its been about four months now since this pattern began.
Answer: Hi, Generally toddlers drop from one to two sleeps/day from around 14 months of age. Then they have a couple of hours sleep after lunch. If she's still having 2 sleeps but waking late, say around 3pm from her 2nd sleep this may be impacting on her late settling at night. You could try just offering her one sleep a day and see if she settles any better. It can take a couple of weeks of two sleeps one day and one on another until they get used to dropping to one day time sleep. There's generally a transition phase. I'd say overall she's probably indicating that she's ready to drop from 2 to 1 sleeps, but expect her to be a little cranky whilst she adapts. Best Jane
